2012 FOOTBALL CALENDAR

January 15: Deadline for underclassmen to apply for early entry to NFL draft

January 18: Deadline for underclassmen to withdraw application for early entry to NFL draft

January 23-28: Senior Bowl Week; Mobile, Alabama

February 5: Super Bowl in Indianapolis

February 6: NFL teams can begin to release veteran players
      February 15: NFL signing period for CFL players under contract ends

      February 20: Teams may start designating franchise and transition players

      February 22-28: NFL Scouting Combine, Indianapolis

      March 4-6: CFL draft evaluation camp, Toronto

      March 13: 2012 football year starts; teams have to be under the salary cap; free agency begins

      April 26-28: 2012 NFL Draft (26th: 1st round; 27th: rounds 2-3; 28th: rounds 4-7)

      May 8: CFL draft

      August 31: Final cut-down day to 53-man rosters

      Sept 5-9: Season openers
